Hello. My blogger works! Well I think we are going to be learning about Africa today. I think that we are going to be learning about how some of the countries got independence. I learned some of the ways they got independence, by reading the section, such as guerilla wars and peaceful ways too.

While I was taking notes, I learned alot!! I learned about all the ways that the Africans tried to become independent. I also learned specificly how a few of the countries became free. I also learned about a few of the positives that the Africans got out of the Europeans colonizing them.

Some things in Africa that we have already learned is that AFrica had to switch from a barder economy to a money economy. We also learned about the AFrican nationalists had to unite among the different groups if they wanted to win independence. Because of the Europeans the Africans had suffered and have had many problems.

We learned that the slaves were taken brought to the new Americas to work for the white people. we also learned about the economy and how they are trying to unify Africa and such not. THat is what we have learned up to this point.

We have learned that Europeans took over Africa and took their raw materials adn tried to take their African culture. Now that Africans are independent they will not really know how to run their country without African rule.

I know that Africa still is mostly in poverty. Africa needs to import food sometimes, because they only grow cash crops. They don't grow normal foods, so they need to get food for somewhere. In the reading I saw that there are new nations that are growing. Africa wanted to rule like the Europeans did. They wanted to have the same types of technologies that the Europeans had.

I learned that there was a triangle of trade that included taking slaves to America from Africa. I have also learned how European influence was a bad thing on Africa. CARSON STANGE

I know that African nations starting to gain independce in the 20th and espicially after WW2. Also that many counties suffer from civil war because of tribes being drawn in the same border. I also knew that South Africa was ruled by a bunch of rich white people because i worked with a South African this summer.

I've learned that for chapter 5 we will be learning about africa in transition. We will be learning about africa adjusting to life without european rule. I have read about nationalism in africa. They are struggling because of the european rule.

We learned how the Europeans effected the Africans. They came in and controlled their lifes, took them as slaves, and split it up into countries. Their economy and way of life was changed. This section we learned how they gained indpendence, but they were not prepared for it.
