Tell me 2 things you learned about imperialism/colonialism and the transition to Africa today. One thing from your group and one thing from another presentation. Do not repeat information, so read previous blogs before you post.
One thing that I learned from our presentation over Ghana was that they have the same government as the British, their imperialists did. It is a Parliament Democracy. I have also learned that many other of the countries we studied that they are having civil wars over power and being put into one nation.
I learned that in Rwanda colonialism created a lot of tensions between the Hutus and Tutsis which then caused a genocide. I also learned that in almost every country the countries that have been colonized are usually poor because they are not industrialized.
I learned that it was very hard to transition form colonialism to present day. I learned that for Kenya that they had the Mau Mau uprising that helped them become independent. I learned from ghana that they today have the same government as the British.
Something that I learned from out project was that the Rwandan Genocide had huge effects on the country. I also learned that they are stil struggling today with ethnic and cultural differences. Something that I learned from the other presentations were that all of the countries that we talked about had effects, not always good, on the country because of the colonization that occured there.
i learned that almost all of the revolutions from these countries were very violent. I also learn about algeria and how they had a huge population growth after they won their independence.
Imperialism started the Rwanda Genocide. When they left, they said the hutus should rebel against the tutsies. and I also learned that the Congo genocide killed almost 10 million people.
I learned that the National Liberation Front was French's politacal party for a long time and they were mainly controling Algeria. I also learned that Hutus and Tutusis were from Rwanda and they fought for a while.
What I learned about Kenya was that they had to have a war in order to gain independence because the British wouldn't listen. Today they are stable. Another thing I learned is that there are a lot of problems in Congo today. There is still fighting going on, and a that 1 person dies every minute.
There was a genocide in the Congo that killed close to 10 million people within a few words. THey still have civil war going on that has killed another 3.5 million people.
One thing that i learned was that Eritrea is Ethopia's outlet to the sea for trade and other things like that. I also learned that Ghana was Africa's first black independent nation.
One thing taht i learned is that the colonization affected alot of different things. It affeceted the people, and the economy. Another thing that was affected was the government. There are also many countries that are having civil wars. Also that alot of poeple died in the Rwandan genocide.
i learned from doing a presentation over Ghana that they and the british have the same government still. I also learned that most of Africa was imperialized by Europeans. And the reason that AFrica is so far behind is because of how they were controlled by the Europeans and weren't able to do things for themselves.
I learned from my group that eritrea had a hard time breaking free of colonialism and imperialism because they had to put all there efforts towards it because they are such a small country. I learned from the other presentaions that when the other countries broke free of imperialism/colonialism and they started wars in their country between power disputes.
most of the african countries had the same government, or something relatively close, as their imperialist powers. as much as they tried to decline westernization, it was sort being absorbed subconsiously. people were becoming more & more like the western & european countries w/o even realizing it.
learned that in Rwanda colonialism created a lot of tensions between the Hutus and Tutsis which then caused a genocide. I also learned that in almost every country the countries that have been colonized are usually poor because they are not industrialized.
